‘Explore your Museum’ on Wednesday evenings in July
The Railway Museum will be open Wednesday evenings during the month of July as part of ‘Explore your Museum’ – a special program offered to give visitors a unique look at our collections.
This is an opportunity to see the museum at one of the most beautiful and peaceful times of day. Bring the family down for special tours offered each night or just explore the site on your own. All our rolling will be open as usual and the handcar will be up and running for rides.
Beginning July 4th, the museum will re-open our gates from 6 – 8 pm each Wednesday. Admission is by donation.
Special tours begin at 6:30 pm.
July 4: A guided tour of our new exhibit: A Social History of the Railway in Smiths Falls with our curator.
July 11: Join the debate of steam vs. diesel with an in depth look at both locomotives.
July 18: a behind-the-scenes tour of the site, including the second floor, artifact storage area and the Section House.
July 25: The evolution of the caboose, where you can explore the history of our cabooses through stories.
‘Explore your Museum’ is a special program offered by the museum as part of the Canadian Northern Railway Station 100th anniversary celebrations.
