Bring the whole family down and celebrate the North Pole Express at the Railway Museum. Get ready to hop aboard our very own Christmas cabooses for a ride along the snowy tracks. Be sure to visit Santa’s elves in their workshop to make a toy, send a Santagram to the North Pole and listen to holiday music. All activities are included with admission unless otherwise noted.
North Pole Express festivities run from 11 am to 4 pm November 24-25 and from 12 pm -7 pm on December 1st.
Tickets are $7/ person; children 4 & under are free. General Admission will also be available at the door for those who aren’t interested in train rides but would like to join in on the other festive activities.
The museum gift shop will be open for all your last-minute Christmas gifts. Stop by and pick up some unique items for your favourite train enthusiast.
What activities will be happening?
Photos with Santa – You can have a family photo taken by our professional photographer for $12 or you can take a pic of the kids with your phone for free! Be sure to register for your photographs when you arrive! Our professional photographer from Cherry Pie Photography will be available from 11:30-3:30 pm on the 24 & on Sunday the 25th, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. December 1st photographs will be available between the hours of 2 pm & 6 pm. Please note Santa and our photographer will have a couple breaks each day as well. Your patience is appreciated.
Santagrams – Our telegrapher has been warming up his fingers to send Santagrams to the North Pole!
Super-sized train table – Need a break or to warm up? We will be providing the youngsters with a super-sized train table to keep them busy… maybe while you do some Christmas shopping in the gift shop.
Christmas Cafe – This year we welcome C’est Tout Bakery to our site to provide our visitors with tasty treats and warm drinks (additional charge for food).

Where can I buy tickets?
How long is the ride?
We are thrilled to be offering longer rides! The rides are now approx. 2 km round trip. They leave from the station along the West track and head north to Cornelia St., switch to the East track and travel along the east side of the property and then back again.
Do I have to pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, if you want to be guaranteed a train ride. There are a limited number of tickets available for this event. If you are unable to purchase your tickets online, please call the museum to purchase tickets (613) 283-5696.
I have a child 3 or under, where I can purchase tickets for them?
Children 3 years old and under do not need a ticket, but please be sure to reserve a ticket for them when purchasing your ticket. Tickets are required for anyone 4 years or older.
What if I miss my scheduled train ride?
We request that you check-in at the front desk at least half an hour before your scheduled ride to pick up your train tickets. If you miss your scheduled ride time, we will do our best to put you on the next available train ride, but we cannot guarantee you a ride.
Will the gift shop be open for Christmas shopping?
Of course! The gift shop will be open if you wish to purchase any train-themed gift for the enthusiast in your family. If there is anything in particular you are looking for, give us a call and we’ll see if we can get it in for you. (613) 283-5696.
