Overnights on a Caboose

Caboose_banner

Today, most of us will only see the caboose in a museum, but you have the chance to experience the caboose in its true form. The Museum is pleased to offer the public the rare opportunity to sleep in a caboose just as the railroaders did.

Step back to the early railroading days, and book an authentic overnight stay in one of our 1940s wooden cabooses overlooking our picturesque 1912 station. Curl up in our comfortable pull-down beds with fresh linens, settle back and relax in the quiet glow of the lantern. The next morning, enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant with our breakfast discount vouchers.

Within the station grounds you will have access to the following conveniences:

  • Bathrooms and shower facilities with fresh towels.
  • Kitchenette that includes a microwave and fridge.
  • Books and games to enhance your stay in the caboose.

Familiarize yourself with our two wooden cabooses available for overnight stays:

Orange Caboose (CP 79274):

CN Steel Caboose (79274) was built in 1967 by Hawker Siddeley. The car was originally a CN steel caboose from 1967-1986, then it was used by Dupont Canada in Maitland, Ontario. The caboose, built with steel, is modern in comparison to the wooden cabooses at the museum. Not only is the caboose steel, but it also has an axle driver generator underneath, electric windshield wipers, lights, and expanded quarters. These modern cabooses ran over many division behind a train with all cars destined for a common terminal.
