Fall in Love with the Railway Museum’s latest installment of
‘Stories from the Railway’
The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario is pleased to announce the next installment of ‘Stories from the Railway’. On Saturday, February 15th, from 1pm – 3 pm, experience the softer side of the railway and how it created lasting memories of love, community, and family ties.
Get swept up in the tales of romance on the rails, as guest speakers share stories of love and marriage. Kay Leeson, a local war bride, tells us of her journey by train to Smiths Falls to start a new life with her husband after the war. Maureen Halpenny, daughter of Harold Halpenny, a local Engineer, transports us back to her youthful adventures while growing up as a child of the railway. Discover how the railway helped to shape her family and her community. Donna Stewart, an Ottawa-based storyteller, brings to life the story of two young people who found love in the midst of the Almonte Train Wreck.
Tickets are $10. The event will be held at the Rideau Canal Visitors Centre Auditorium at 34 Beckwith Street South, in Smiths Falls. This event is a fundraiser for the Museum.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online, or by calling the museum.
