Completed in the Fall 2014, the Railway Museum’s Sustainability Plan includes a review of the current state of the museum and what actions will be taken over the next five years to achieve self-sustainability. The plan focuses on key areas such as collections and exhibits, programming, rides, facilities, gift shop, fundraising, memberships, food services, human resources, marketing and promotion and communication. Overall, the museum needs to offer more experiences to draw larger crowds therefore generating larger revenues.
The plan was presented to Smiths Falls Council in January 2015. A key component to the success of the plan includes and investment of $50,000 over four years (2015 – 2018) by the Town of Smiths Falls. We are happy to announce that the museum received full funding in 2015!
This report contains a detailed operational plan that outlines how we will achieve self-sustainability by the end of 2018.
This report was delivered to council January 17, 2017. It outlines what was completed in year two, and what the work plan will be for 2017.
This presentation was was delivered to Smiths Falls Town Council on January 23 requesting funding for 2017.
