Bring the whole family down and celebrate the North Pole Express at the Railway Museum. Get ready to hop aboard our very own Christmas cabooses for a ride along the snowy tracks. Be sure to visit Santa’s elves in the boxcar workshop to make a toy, send a Santagram to the North Pole.
Keep an eye out for Santa who will be arriving by train to meet all the good girls and boys.
Polar Express festivities run from 11 am to 4 pm each day.
Tickets are $7/ person; children 2 & under are free.
The museum gift shop will be open for all your last-minute Christmas gifts. Stop by and pick up some unique items for your favourite train enthusiast.
Where can I buy tickets?
Do I have to pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, if you want to be guaranteed a train ride. There are a limited number of tickets available for this event. If you are unable to purchase your tickets online, please call the museum to purchase tickets (613) 283-5696. If you haven’t been able to purchase a train ride ticket, you are still welcome to come and participate in all the other activities. Admission is still $7 per person (2 and under free).
How much are tickets and what does it include?
Tickets are $7 (plus $1.01 admin fee). Your ticket allows you access to all activities on site. Everything is included in your admission ticket.
I have a child 2 and under, where I can purchase tickets for them?
Children 2 years old and under do not need a paid ticket, but please be sure to get a free ticket when you purchase yours!
What else is going on at the museum?
This year we have expanded our event. Of course, there is the North Pole Express (train ride). Santa will be arriving by train (time to be confirmed). We will also have photos with Santa. One of our boxcars will transform into Santa’s workshop, so be sure to bring the kids over to visit the elves and make a toy. Our telegrapher will be on hand to send Santagrams to the North Pole! We are still firming up some details, so be sure to check back!
What if I miss my scheduled train ride?
We request that you check-in at the front desk at least half an hour before your scheduled ride to pick up your train tickets. If you miss your scheduled ride time, we will do our best to put you on the next available train ride, but we cannot guarantee you a ride.
Will the gift shop be open for Christmas shopping?
Of course! The gift shop will be open if you wish to purchase any train-themed gift for the enthusiast in your family. If there is anything in particular you are looking for, give us a call and we’ll see if we can get it in for you. (613) 283-5696.
